Have You Heard of a Stranger Name??

My MIL and I were talking about kids' names for some reason last night. She was the director for a preschool for a long time so she's seen lots of unusual names and spellings.
She told me one time there was a kid whose name was La-

Thats: La -

Pronounced La Dash. But spelled La -

Seriously.

  • The worst I ever heard.....my neighbor was a court reporter. She was in family court one day, the bailiff called out the parents names, and when he got to the child's name he stopped. The mother got upset and said "Shu -thed...his name is shu-thed." It was spelled Shithead!!!

  • One girl I tutored was Daishja pronounced like the deja in deja vu. I have heard of one woman naming her son Jedi. Now that I am overseas I see even more interesting ones, like Chunky (I am sure that is not how it is pronounced, but that's how it's spelled). I also have a friend that named her son Eoin ( I assumed it would be pronounced Ian or something like that) nope it's pronounced Owen. WTF?

  • Interesting

We have a client at work that fills her paperwork out

    N (first name)
    G (middle name)
    N (last name)

Its spelled out on birth certificate, other documents 'No Given Name'

We have never asked her about her name.
