  • Have you applied direct pressure?? Adding a ice pack to the direct pressure can help as well... it makes the blood vessels shrink and can help slow the bleeding. But if direct pressure and bandaging doesn't stop it take him to the vet!

  • Put some sulfur on it. It will stop the bleeding. U can get a bag if it at a superwalmart if u have one near u. Or a lumber yard. It wont hurt them i promise. We keep it for when one of our working dogs gets hurt.

  • Amen to the vet tech ~ I'll add that it can take a few minutes up to a half hour, but the bleeding will stop if it's just a torn nail. Don't rinse it off when the bleeding stops or you'll just unclot it and the toe will bleed again. You'll have flour or cornstarch marks on your floor (you can brush off the extra on the pads and foot, but don't disturb the actual toe).

And, don't just sprinkle it on. Get a bowl or baking pan and fill it, and stick that paw in there and cover it. Hopefully your dog won't be like my Chow was and fight you the whole time lol. Hope it's better soon!

  • Take the dog to the vet. He can bleed to death.
Try to hold gauze or something over the area and keep hom as quiet as you can
