How long should she be eating?

I am BFing my 5 month old daughter and she usually eats 15 minutes off each breast. Lately she's been going only 10 minutes on each. Is that normal? Will she eat shorter and shorter amounts of time as she gets older? I didn't get to BF my first longer than 5 weeks so this is new to me! Help please, I'm concerned she's not eating enough cause she isn't eating as long

  • it's typically for a baby to become more efficient at draining the breast, so don't worry.
just follow your baby's cues and you'll be fine. :)
congrats on making it this far, mama!!

  • I use to breastfeed 15 minutes each breast. I would not worry if your baby is only nursing 10 minutes each breast. If she is falling asleep during feeding rub her cheek while giving her your nipple. (always worked for me) I breast fed my twins for 16 months my daughters for 3 and 6 months.

  • that has happened to me....I think when they get older they eat more at one meal and they drain your breast faster.

  • Its not that she's falling asleep she just doesn't want anymore

  • Normal! Nothing to worry about. They get efficient as they get older.
