Baby development

How and when did your baby(s) develop? Ex. My son started holding his head up while on his belly at 1 1/2 months. He started sitting up assisted at about 3 1/2 months and he just recently started sitting up unassisted at 5 months. He has not started crawling yet...

  • Well, my Mother said that I held my head up on my stomach at 5 weeks, sat up assisted at 2 months, sat up unassisted at 3 months, and was walking at 8 months, I never did crawl. My little boy seems to be following in my footsteps. He started holding his head up at about 4 1/2 weeks, he's sitting up by himself just fine at 7 weeks, and when I stand him up on my lap, he starts walking!!! Like, not by himself, with me holding him steady, but he's moving his feet in the motion, he just needs some balance control, and someone to catch him when his legs get tired of holding his weight. All babies develop differently though. My neice didn't start all that until like lets see, 3 months, then about 5 months, she was walking by 1 I think though.

  • held head up at about 6 weeks when on tummy, commando crawled at 3 mos, sat at 4 mos, unassisted at 4 1/2 mos, rolled both directions at 4 mos, rocked on hands and knees at 6 mos and stood up w/o pulling up, crawled at 7 mos and is getting into a sitting position on her own. Just remember that every baby develops differently.

  • It can be normal for babies to sit up before crawling because its usually the 1st thing we teach/show them they do things at different times some babies even walk before they crawl or pull themselves up on furniture. I have 2 boys my oldest started crawling and sitting up on his own at 8 months but my youngest is 9 months and hasnt sat up or crawled on his own yet. He has sat on his own for a few seconds before starting to fall but he was also 5 weeks premature. But he is a very bright baby. Have you read any baby books at all?

  • My daughter held her head up from birth, which I thought was really strange and the docs told me that it would go away, but it didn't...sitting up at 3 1/2 months, crawling at 5 months, cruising at 5 months and didn't walk until 12 months. I thought for sure she would be an early walker since she crawled so early, but nope! :)
