Where can I get the partial debarking procedure done in Reno, NV?

Hello, we're in Reno, NV. I want the "partial debarking procedure", not the actual debarking (where they actually make an exernal incision, partial they do NOT). We've had our dog since she was a puppy and the barking is getting so bad that if we get one more strike we're going to have to give her up.
This is not a debate on how "wrong" you think this is. I just need to know where I can get it done.

Thank you.

  • Down vote on your question. Why don't you try training or something less extreme. Debarking is complelty pointless and horrible. Your not taking responsability your going for the "quick fix" and that's not resposnsable dog ownership. I think you should rehome the dog. Why would you ask a question like this as this and not expect a debate?

  • Debarking seems a bit extreme. I would try a anti bark collar first and there are other types besides shock collars. I use citronella collars on my dogs and it works great. The collar that is out now was origally made for smaller dogs and now it if for dogs of any size.

  • Wow I don't think I would do that. Place him for adoption or try some nonsurgical options. Talk with your vet. Good Luck.

  • To everyone else: No. This is not up for debate. It will happen, wether you like it or not, nomatter what you say, nomatter what horrible names you call me, I DO NOT CARE.
Call your local Humane Society and ask if they would rather you surrender your dog, or if they would rather you get the partial debarking procedure done. Ours prefers the procedure. They put the dog to sleep, open her mouth, and make a few notched in her vocal cords. It's not like the other owe where they cut the neck open, I would never do something like that. It seems cruel to me to give away a dog that we've had for four years just because she barks too much and the apartments are old and weren't made correctly. We've never had this problem before, it is the apartments. We are her family, we decided to keep her and take that responsibility, and we're owning up to it.

    Now back to my question.
What vet in Reno, NV does this procedure?

  • DJDNY: We tried that once on a larger dog we had (he passed from old age in case anyone's wondering). It would shock him, he would jump back and yelp, and it would shock him from the whelp, and the process would repeat itself. I had to hold him down, but when I put my hand on the clasp-thing to get it off, it shocked him so bad (because he was still whelping) that my hand closed around the clasp and wouldn't open. I had to wait until he was shocked again (before the whelp that shocked him AGAIN) to hurry and open it. I don't know if that one was deffective or what, but I don't think I'm going to try that on this tiny little dog.

  • My daughter uses a collar on her dog when the baby is sleeping. It works for her. have you tried the collar that zaps them when they bark.

  • Wow, I would rather give the dog a new home where she can be herself than to do something like that.

  • Thank you ladies :)
I called around and all they want to do is the debarking, with the incision. I guess I'm going to have to call around in the neighboring cities or something, it'll be work the drive to keep her and know she's safe and fed and loved though.
