Is it okay to play on the school playground during weekend hours?

I've seen other people at the school's playground but haven't asked the school was it okay. Do I need their permission to let the kids play there? Is it trespassing? Just in case, the closest park is like 30+ minutes away vs the school which is 5 minutes. Thanks

Depends on local laws etc, but around here it's fine as long as the kids aren't unsupervised. And if they are injured the school isn't liable for it since it was after school hours.

yes, you can play on school playground anytime EXCEPT when school is in session
'like before school, parents dropping off kids, teachers come out to get them
some parents have their toddlers on playground- this is NOT ok with the school, as toddlers and big kids do not mix well on playground, there is even a sign, but some parents still do this

In our area ... yes.
we bring our kids to their school playground on the wknd, if the weather is nice, during summer especially.
Only times its not allowed, is like fiatpax said .. when school is in session.

where i live, it's fine as long as they aren't destroying property or doing any illegal activities.....it is a drug and bully free zone

Our school playgrounds are listed as city parks (the public schools), in the directory along with all the others.
