dog pee....

My lab puppy is still being house trained & sometimes pees on our carpet when i'm not around and now the house smells like piss. Any good remedies or products for getting the smell out of the carpet?

  • mix a very small amount of dish detergent with vinegar and baking soda, i also add a bit of water, make sure you have a big bowl and hold it over the sink it wil have a reaction and foam up on you for a minute or so but it works wonders to get rid of the smell and stain, this combo kills the wetness that is normally left behind, even when a pee spot dries it is still wet deep down which is why it smells so bad and animals keep coming back to it.

I just got through my cat who discovered he was a boy before i made him less of a man lol.

  • This works good for us

    1 part water
    1 part vinigar

Spray and blot it with a towel and then let dry.

  • The solutions they told you are good....just don't SOAK the carpet or it will get in the pad and NEVER come out.... if the pee is still wet, take a thick DRY towel or 2, place it over the pee with a heavy book or something on it for most of the day. Then you can clean the remaining spot with the solutions listed above. It works great. You'll be amazed how much it soaks up. Good Luck.

  • I bought a product at Petsmart.. pet Miracle or something, takes out the odor so they are not attracted to the spot. You can also put it in a rug shampooer.

A friend of mine who trains labs, says as a pup, you need to take them out every 30 minutes. Also after naps, playtime etc.. good luck

  • Put baking soda over the spot peed on until everything is soaked out of the carpet. once dry, vacuum. (it can take a lot, but works well. Then clean with the water/vinegar solution to take care of the smell. You just have to make sure all the moisture is out of the carpet and padding first.

  • urine gone works well enough and so does the pet odor product at the pet store. I would suggest investing in a crate for when you can't supervise. This will help with the piddles on the carpet.

  • okay this is what i do for a living. my family owns the Folex carpet spot remover co. and this is how it works. pet pee already goes down to the padding and the reason you continue to smell it is because it spreads out across the pad. Folex can be purchased at most stores nation wide and it comes in a white bottle with pink writing. the solution is pink due to the fact it has no deoderant to mask the pet pee. Folex is a serfactant and is made to draw the pee out of the pad. when the smell is gone so is the pee. look us up on the web or your local store. good luck!!
