5 Bumps

Follow up to the church sign controversy below...

A civil rights group has requested the IRS intervene and investigate the church for violating the laws against churches keeping their non-profit status in exchange for not endorsing a political party or candidate.

If the IRS takes this up, should they then deal with all the other churches that do the same thing (albeit without the racist bent this particular church used)?

Yes. Church and state should be kept separate. Churches know the laws. If they want to receive tax exempt status, they must abide by the rules. Just because they are a christian church doesn't mean they are above the rules.

yes. im surprised the IRS hasnt started investigating the Pulpit Freedom participants for the outright defying the law.
