If a case was dismissed in one state, can it be retried in another?

If a garnishment case was dismissed in court Virginia where I live, can it be retried in court in Maryland where the company I work for is located?

  • No. I think it has to be in the state where the offense happened.

  • Just pay your bills. If you are a deadbeat dad remember you can have you tax returns garnished by the state/feds for lack of CS payments.

  • Just read what the case was about. In that case, it would probably depend on state laws. If MD had a different law regarding the matter and it was still going on then yes they could probably retry.
