How old was your child when you put them in a booster seat?

My son is 5 today, since he's been 4 I promised when he was 5 he could be in a booster... now I'm freaking out about it ..

  • My kids are older, they were in backless boosters at 4 and 5 - mainly because when I left their dad I left him with the carseats and didn't want/couldnt afford to buy new ones for a year or two.

  • My son is almost ready for a booster, maybe Santa might just leave him a booster seat under the tree this year! He can still be in his car seat for at least another good few weeks, I'm hoping he can still fit by Christmas. The backless I would go for when he is about 7 or so, most kids are about 6-8 when they are in a backless booster. 3 or 4 by high back booster. But my son is 4 and he's such a big boy!

  • I think he was 4 when he got a booster with the back. He was too tall for a car seat.

  • I have identical twins. They are 4 years old and Isabel has Rett's and is small and is still fitting in her car seat. Jacklynn just now got in a high back booster. Actually, she was really excited about changing seats. She loved being able to use the adult belts. So if you make it sound fun and exciting by making a big deal out of it, like "you're a big boy now, you're not a baby and babies use car seats. Big boys use booster seats!" And let him pick it out and try it out in store if you want. I did that with Jacklynn I let pick out only the high back ones, she got a pretty pink one and once paid for it she was able to ride in it on the way home from the store! Really exciting for her and when we got home, DH was so proud of her, she's a big girl now! No more car seats for her!
