Can you eat salmon when you are pregnant?

I remember from the last pregnancy people saying that you shouldnt eat certain seafood, but I cant remember which ones and I want to make some salmon this week...

  • Just don't eat more than 12 oz a week. The fat in salmon is good for pregnant women.

  • The reason you are supposed to avoid seafood is because of mercury content. You should avoid canned tuna, for sure, and fish that is higher in fat content, fish that eat other fish, etc. Salmon is one of those that some say NO, and some say, SURE.

    I think as long as you eat seafood in moderation, and stick to light whitefish and salmon, you should be ok. And pay attention to where it was gotten from. DO NOT eat fish farmed in Viet Nam.
