AT&T cell phone people: "social net" ???

DH & I have a joint AT&T plan. We both text, I have a smartphone so use internet, etc, he doesn't. He keeps getting these texts asking if he wants to join this "social network" or whatever - wth? Is some person "inviting" him to join something? Is AT&T sending these? I've never gotten one (which is fine with me) but he's sick of them - some days he gets multiples, like just 3 times tonight. Anybody know wth this is?

  • If it's from AT&T, the message will say so.

Other than that, I don't know. I just don't respond to anything sketchy like that.

  • He keeps hitting "no" - when it comes there's a "yes" or "no" option, a friend said to reply "stop" but I didn't see an option to reply the last time I saw one of the texts. Nothing shows up on our bill either which is what makes me think it's a person inviting him to it, which I assume would go through AT&T.

It's from AT&T essentially trying to get him to upgrade to a smartphone by advertising social net (aka a networking app that connects all the favorite social apps like facebook and twitter).

  • We have had AT&T for over 10 years now...smart phones for past 3...and have never had this message. If what Kristi posted is true, then it must be a new thing they've started doing.
