Is consuming alcohol forbidden? I know they general do not celebrate birthdays or holidays, but what about social parties?Answer Question

My mom used to be and it's not forbidden. It might be heavily discouraged within certain congregations. I don't recall any time while she was deep in that faith that she refused a glass of wine now and then (rarely, but no different than when she wasn't a JW). I would imagine like with all faiths, substance abuse is not acceptable.
