  • Again, you can leave the park when your child is tired, cranky, and medicine is worn off. We went last year and my son has ADHD. We planned our park times around him. I knew that around 6 pm his medicine starts wearing off. We left the park between 5-5:30 every day. Disabled people are disabled 24/7.

  • She never did answer my question as to if her daughter receives extra services because of her ADHD. Chances are at some point in her academic life she will be given extra time, a quieter test environment, etc. It's okay for her daughter to receive these services but heaven forbid she have to stand in line at Disney World for an extra 5 minutes to allow a disabled person to ride.

  • the school board said this is not a disability so we fought this for several years but because she is improving they give us a hard time. Thankfully her teachers care enough to work with her on thier own or she would be lost, I don't complain I know many children need it worse and we can help her at home as well and see improvement all the time.

  • Um, no that's NOT what your question was about. You even admitted yourself that you thought it was unfair that they got to cut in line. It's one thing to ask how to explain something to your child, however, you wanted to know why they got to break in line too.

  • you asked how to explain it then in your very last sentence you said

while we are at it, how is that OKAY

showing you had an issue, we explained and yes we gave you hell for your post.

Of course you closed it so no one will be the wiser will they that you were being heartless by suggesting that people who are dying or very disabled should not be able to get a perk here and there. So yeah, you have an IEP so really what is the difference other than your childs issue is not one that entiles her to the same as one who cant walk or stand?

  • and I told you why, they can not physically stand without meds or canes or wheelchairs or they are dying of cancer
or they can not comprehend the reason for a long line so if there was no special consideration these children or adults would never be able to enjoy what you and your child get to.

just tell her point blank that things have to be done for some people becasue they are sick or in pain etc. All kids get diappointed and perfect way to teach her that life is not fair for everyone at the same time.

  • nope, my kid does not get an IEP for an eye disorder yet she can not find her spot in a book if she glances away and goes back to the page. Same with a blackboard, she does not get an IEP because it can be corrected eventually with therapy.

So if she gets an IEP for that then everyone should get access to special services.

  • Anon, why doesn't your child have an IEP until it is corrected? It doesn't have to be in place for every test, maybe just the timed ones or state tests.
