Home remedy for a sore throat?

I brought a cold back from my trip last week. All that's left is a really painful sore throat. Not scratchy, but painful to swallow. Is there anything I can do at home to ease the discomfort?

  • Gargle with an alka-seltzer, drink warm ginger in hot water, or just eat marshmallows. Marshmallows were actually created for sore throats.
