Hidden treasure: $9K artwork bought for $12 at Goodwill

IMAGE: In this Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2012 photo, Karen Mallet stands in front of her Alexander Calder print in her Shorewood, Wis., home.
My best find is a set of Louisa May Alcott hardcover books.  They are beautiful and old.  Precious not valuable.

  • That's cool! I found an antique featherweight sewing machine at a tag sale for $15, it turned out to be worth $350. :)

  • A wagon. Not much of a find but it's been useful. I have gotten my $15 out of it and then some.

  • I have gotten several good buys at estate sales, even furniture. Very old side table for $5 dollars and hand crafted.

  • We bought a vacuum sealer for $4, and a food dehydrator for $5. At different times, though. I usually find little things that fill a hole, like tea cups that match my Corelle pattern, that didn't come with my dishes. And the serving utensils that match... stuff like that.
