Have you ever trusted an Answers member with personal information and they betrayed that trust?

Since the first post came to an unfortunate and untimely end, and this might be a good discussion.

My answer? Yes I have trusted Answers members with my phone number. And now we talk daily. No betrayal, in fact, they're some of my favorite people ever.

  • I have given out my address and phone number. No problems for me. The ones I trust are awesome people and mature enough to not play stupid games with people.

  • I don't have any "personal information" that can do me any harm even if I shared it and was "betrayed". It's not like I'm sharing my social security number, banking information, passwords, home address, or credit card numbers. I would have to be an idiot to give that stuff out.

  • I have trusted enough to give address, phone to some and not one has ever done me wrong and I don't see it happening now

  • I've given my phone number and address to several people on CM and have NEVER had anyone betray my trust.

That said, my life is pretty boring so I'm not sure how I would be betrayed. Okay, well, maybe the haggis thing was a little embarrassing.

  • LOL. I guess it's pathetic that that type of post would be a little interesting. I just got back home from shoe shopping with a 7 and 9 year old. I thought I would never leave the mall.

  • I'm trying to think of anything that would fall under "betray". Some info is public record, and anyone desperate enough to track someone down via this site could do so easily, but that's not a betrayal - harassment or illegal, depending on what and how it's shared, maybe. I can't think of anything so sensitive that repeating it would be a "betrayal". It's not like I'm running around telling people about our personal finances or sex life.

  • No, to be honest irl I tend to not share personal things that would hurt me in a betrayal type of way. So why would I on here? Things I say I say knowing that someone could possibly spred so I always watch what I say.
