What do you do when you wake up in the middle of the night and cannot sleep?

I woke up at 4:30am. Could not fall asleep. I watched some bad TV. Tried to read. Answered a few questions on here. Took a long hot shower.

  • Watch tv, read a book, clean, go for a walk (depending on if my son is here or not). Just depends on the night.

  • Sit up in bed. Maybe do some reading. Hasn't happened to me in a long time because of the exhaustion from school, kids, and homework.

  • 4:30 is early morning for me, so if I wake up and can't go back to sleep I lay and play on my phone. I love my time alone in bed, and getting up would wake everyone else. If it's 2-3 am, I'll use the bathroom, then go back to bed, and try to go back to sleep... I usually wake up around the same time every night...

  • Go online or read some world history or advanced Spanish, or whatever the latest textbook I'm proofreading happens to be--that usually makes me sleepy.
