  • They have to ask. I don't allow mindless grazing. They can have anything they want unless it's intended for something else like a dinner recipe.

  • Mine asks first, then if it's OK, she usually gets it if she can reach it.

  • I make mine ask. Only because if I don't, they'll eat stuff that's intended to make lunches or dinners, or they'll finish off something that has enough for everyone (example: enough brownies everyone can have one for dessert, but they'll finish them all). Most of the time, if they ask for something to eat, they get it, because I know they're really hungry. They're so active that I don't have any worries that they'll eat too much and end up overweight.

  • He is to ask first but he often grabs anyway. If I catch him grabbing without asking he is made to put it back and then ask.

  • There are things they know they can grab anytime... yogurt, fruit, raw veggies, cheese... stuff like that. And some things they know they need to ask for... sweets & stuff. But they are 6 & 8 too...

  • They had to ask. Truthfully they had to not touch. They ate 3 meals a day. And snacked when I said it was ok.. They better eat enough at meal time.

  • Mine MUST ask! If they got what they wanted when they wanted I would probably be reported for child abuse. They'd be obese! My boys would eat junk all day long if I let them. I think its important for us to monitor what and when they eat at their ages (6 and 2) in order to build healthy eating habits in the future.

  • My kids know they can have fruit, veggies or yogurt any time of day. Anything else they have to ask.
