Car payment question

Has anyone ever gotten out of or sold a vehicle because u couldn't afford the payment and bought a cheaper car?? How do u do it?? We have had our truck for a year and we can afford it but barely...we live on the wrong side of town to only use one car and my husband works very weird hours so picking him up would be hard...

  • we have let them take it before...

I think if you want someone else to take over payments-they have to qualify for it? Not sure

  • Most will sell them at auction and you pay them the difference, but if you can't pay the payments, coming up with thousands is not going to happen
They want the amount that they would have received at the end of your loan. Most are not willing to accept less
how much do you still owe?

  • Sell it outright for what it's worth (hopefully more than you owe on it). Use that money to pay it off. Then find something cheaper.

  • You can't sell a car with a held title. The buyer has no guarantee that you'd use that amount to clear the title
You need to contact your loan company and ask how much they'd accept as a cash payment
If you still have 2-5 years on the loan, they'll want all of it most likely

  • You might be able to get someone to take over the payments? Call the people you have the loan with.
