How much do you spend on christmas?

I was wondering how much do you usually spend on each kid? I was looking on craigslist in general section and noticed all the " need help for Christmas"! Has me wondering what the average person spends on their kids? Makes me sad knowing some kids wont get a gift.

  • It depends on what they want. I usually spend $200-250 on things that my 11, 12 and 15 yo's want and $100 on things my 2 and 4 yo want - I will usually throw in some stuff they need too (sheets, pajamas, jeans, boots, etc). I have 5 kids so its a lot of stuff!

  • If it makes you sad donate a gift. There are plenty of opportunities.
My kinds and now DGS pick out one thing they would like to have and we buy it together and donate it together.
    For us that is traditon.

As far as my family is concerned I spend more some years and less in other years.

  • We give them one big gift, and then some small ones. This year the big gift was about 200 per child. (We have 3 boys)

  • we are donating about 10 toys and this year we have spent around 350 per kid (two teens)
we have had rougher years where we didn't spend much- but it turned out fine anyway :)

  • On average 150-200 per kid. It varies. It's gotten pricier every year as they grow and their interests change.

  • My Son is 6 so we spent about $200. That is about what we spend every year on him. My Daughter is 16 months so maybe $30. I bought her a Disney shopping cart & her first Barbie. I don't really spend until they realize what presents are. We are still so loaded up with baby/toddler toys from my Son. She is really only interested in the wrapping paper & bows right now. My family also buys them gifts.

  • Varies from year to year - this year we set money aside at tax time so we knew we'd have plenty. In past years I've spent $20 on each and they've been happy. They know Christmas isn't all about presents - though they get plenty from grandparents, etc, every year as well.

  • no clue. theyre 4 & 1 so they dont ask for ridiculously expensive things and i just kinda buy from November 1 till Christmas Eve as we can afford it. i think it comes out to like $150-200 per kid, which is a lot of stuff cause i deal hunt.
