When did your baby get on a regular nap schedule?

I have an almost 3 yr old daughter & I remember it taking her a few months to get on some sort of schedule. Now she naps from about 1-3pm, sometimes shorter.

I have a 3 month old son & he basically takes little cat naps throughout the day. Sometimes he takes longer naps, but mostly cat naps.

When did your child get on a nap schedule & any tips?

  • DS was probably about 7 months old before he got on a regular schedule. He hated sleeping.
DD was on a regular nap schedule within about a month, adjusting with each milestone as she got older.

  • None of mine ever di take real naps on any kind of a schedule. They would doze of and 5 minutes later be raring to go.

  • Their schedule changed often but we started a consistent schedule from the beginning. I woke them up at least every 3 hours during the day to eat, made sure they got a full tummy rather than nursing them to sleep and made sure I played with them enough that they were very drowsy and ready for nap time. It took about 2 weeks for it to become very predictable though. Some babies will set their own schedule, others need a little help. But by my 5th child, I had do much going on I needed consistency to know when to run errands, when to be home, etc
