Any one else's child take longer than 16 months to walk 100% independently?

My child will stand a min then sits and walks along stuff but afraid to let go. The dr says its a confidence issue not to worry.

  • I was 18 months. Once I finally walked I was fine, it just took me a while. My niece was 21 months, but she was a preemie.

  • DS was 18 months and DD was 17 months. The Doctor was just starting to get concerned with each when they finally took off.

  • My first three walked at one year. My fourth walked at 17 or 18 months! He waited until he was sur eof his balance, and when he started, he was running!

  • My middle DD was 18 months.. Some just take more time than others, some are lazy, some are scared.. I wouldn't worry. I have known 5 year olds that were still bald and 2 year olds with no teeth, as well as older kids losing their first tooth.. Remember the time frame is an average :)

  • Hell yes. All three were extremely late walkers. #1 walked at 19 1/2 months, #2 at 18 months and #3 at 23 months.

  • My 2nd to youngest didn't start really walking until she was close to 2 years of age. She also had/has 3 older siblings to wait on her.
