Do you keep your kid home after this?

My son threw up 2-3 times. He since feels better and has been able to keep down crackers, soup, and apple sauce. Im keeping him home tomorrow. Would you keep your kid home even if they are feeling better?

  • I would probably keep him home for at least one more day

  • Our school policy is puke, diarrhea, and/or fever free for 24 hours before returning to school.

  • I would keep my child home. At DDs school they have to be a full 24 hours fever, vomit, or diarrea free before they can go back. I think thats when they are the most contagious and more likely to release their fluids on others.
Keep him home to rest. For his sake, and for the health of everyone else.

  • Sure would. I'm debating keeping my DS home tomorrow and he's been puke free for over 24 hours now already - but still not feeling too hot.

  • Thank you all, my son is seasonally apt to catching tummy bugs. Last year he pulled something similar to today, a few pukes then fine. I'm pretty sure both his school and daycare both have a 24 hour policy. Not 100% though cuz were new in this town. Thanks again all for the reaffirmation.

  • I have one that's prone to puking when nothing is really wrong... so if it was my DS, he held down his next meal and is fever free I'd send him. If it was my DD who never pukes I'd probably keep her home. It really depends on your child's PMHx and current signs & symptoms!!

  • Our school policy is they have to be fever, diarrhea and vomiting free for 24 hours so we stick to that.
