  • Valerian root. Check out Formula 303. The pills stink, but it's all natural.

  • Google stress relieving techniques. Usually anxiety is pent up stress. Unless it's a chemical imbalance, in which case I think only meds would help.

  • Yoga...meditating, get enough sleep, increase your intake of omega-3 fatty acids. Also, a recent studies have demonstrated that chamomile can reduce symptoms of anxiety. Dr Oz had a show about dealing with anxiety and he said eat foods that are high in tryptophan. This amino acid can reduce anxiety by promoting better sleep. Examples include cheese, chicken, soy products, eggs, tofu, fish, milk, turkey, nuts, peanuts and peanut butter, pumpkin seeds, and sesame seeds. Eat complex carbohydrates. These are believed to increase the level of serotonin in the brain, which has a calming effect. Like whole grains. And believe it or not, stay hydrated. Even mild dehydration can have negatively affect your mood!! I did a lot of searching awhile back hoping to have help with my panic disorder, this stuff does help a lot, but every once in awhile, I have to take a dose of klonopin.

  • Yoga is great- even the thing on WiiFit. I journal before bed, it seems to help with the hamster wheel brain; just helps me sort the day out & shut down for the night. I have noticed a big difference since I started walking the dog for 30 minutes every day, just the fresh air and moving. My go-to destressor is peppermint tea and Mozart.

  • I've used hypnotherapy. It really does work if you continue to see him regularly. I think my guy charged about $65.00 per visit, but I really needed to go every week for it work effectively.
