The problem is not guns, it's a godless society

this is about the 4th or 5th time i've seen this on my FB since the elementary school massacre in Newtown, CT on Friday.

anyone care to explain what exactly a "godless society" is? i thought the logic was that god was everywhere all the time. has god abandoned us? does that therefore state that his love comes with conditions? i.e. you must all worship me, have my name everywhere, have children pray in my name in schools regardless of their beliefs, or i'll abandon you?

  • A godlss society is one whose vast majority do not hold God as the focus of their lives.

It is again not the guns that kill but the humans that decide they will kill with or without a gun... The way to stop people fromusing GUNS to kill is to destroy evry single gun ever made and anyone with any knowledge (in the remotest way) of how to make a gun or has handled a gun amd all the documentation in any source of any kind of explosive power in the entire universe. Impossible.
We could just destroy the entire human race and then there would be no murders but that sort of defeats the purpose.

What happened to christians being the majority in this country, and therefore their voices rule? Are they not truly christians, as they claim?

  • I will not say all gods but I would say the gods of most religions prohibit strongly killing another person except in certain extreme cases)
If everyone feared/loved their god enough to put him first they would not break this rule.

And that is true. But even "godly" people break the rules because we are all flawed creatures.

I gave you the definition of the phrase as you asked.
I do not agree with the statement.
Just as I don't believe outlawing guns will change anything either You just take the guns out of the hands of lawabiding citizens. The lawbreakers will not abide by the rules anyway.

there is no way anyone can say this with any amount of certainty.
People feel they have god first in their life all the time, and continue to make bad decisions on a daily basis.

  • Guess that means the Amish are also godless, considering what happened to those children at their school.

  • The day we decided that humans were expendable.

So all the black men experimented on in Tuskegee for years weren't expendable? Women and children who were property, and therefore could not be abuse victims by definition weren't expendable? The millions of indigenous people who lived in North America and were systematically slaughtered by the roving bands of explorers and missionaries weren't expendable? The non-Christians slaughtered across Europe, Africa and the Middle East weren't expendable? It was only in WWII that suddenly humanity lost its reverence for human life?

  • The worst school violence in the United States occurred prior to 1945 and it didn't involve guns.

That is the day we decided that killing from a distance and en mass was acceptable. Up until that time, killing was an intimate act.
