how do i get my 15month to stop nursing and take milk in a cup?

he gags at the taste of milk i've tried everything chocolate,strawberry and nothing.the worst is at night he still wakes up 2 to 3 times to nurse.the soctor told me its time to wean him but how?

  • Tell your doctor to be quiet and allow your child to self wean. It's perfectly normal for a nursing child to wake at night. That's why all my kids slept with me. So if you have no problem with it let him wean himself naturally.

  • Why would the doctor tell you to wean your child? The World Health Organization says you should nurse your baby for AT LEAST 2 years, then after that as long as is mutually desired. Even the American Acadmey of Pediatrics says: "It is recommended that breastfeeding continue for at least 12 months, and thereafter for as long as mutually desired." http://pediatrics.aappublications.org/cgi/content/full/pediatrics;100/6/1035
