  • This is what I see all the time. It is hard. I try very hard to get an admission pushed through. Nope. How about a pyschiatrist. Nope. Turned down for local mental health services. Police are frequently called but they see it as a parenting issue. As in i'll stand here while you go get your belt because we stand behind discipline. It's not that they are bad or stupid. Just not trained in mental health. This could be any one of the families I work with. I am exhausted. So much so that I am resigning at tge end of the school year to have the entire summer off to think about what my next job will be. It is hard, painful even, to know what should be done and not beable to secure resources. All I do is document and come up with a saftey plan.

  • I didn't cry. Just sucks for those families to deal with it all.

  • same article I posted in my question. The sad part is that it DOES take a lot to actually get any REAL help a lot of times.

  • I teach at a school for kids who have emotional/social disorders. It can be very hard to get them the help they need. Even when a parent does get into see a psychiatrist, sometimes they just suck.
