Would you leave a six year old home alone after school for about an hour or two?

Just found out BM is doing this? I guess she don't want to get a sitter she still lives with her parents who are always working? And she's also working.. And none of them can make arrangements for him. My stepson goes throug the back window and his mom tells him to make a cereal till she comes home. What do y'all think? My husband got a lawyer because this is was too far. When did y'all let your children home alone? Would this be a CPS case?

  • Most states have laws regarding a minimum age to be left alone. That is far too young.

  • I would never leave my 6yo home alone for any amount of time.

  • I do have an extended family member that's mother left him home alone all the time when he was that age. She would go out and party. They lived in CA. His dad found out what she was doing and called CPS and they investigated but since he knew how to call 911 and there was food in the house they couldn't do anything.

  • Uh, that's a BIG FAT NO! That is way too young to be home alone! I don't even leave my 10 y/o home alone. Yes, I would either alert the school or CPS. That's freakin insane!

  • never leave a child that young. 12 is when I think they can be home alone.
I wouldn't call CPS that will make even more hassle for your husband and you. Just get the lawyer involved.

  • Yes, it's a CPS call. And enough for her to lose custody.
