How can you tell if your having twins

i was looking great looked like i had lost a few pounds then bam looked like i never lost weight found out i was pregnant explained what i thought was the weight gain. they had said i was nine weeks and thought oh ok thats why i look like i ate nothing but mc donalds all my life. well went last thursday gave me an ultra sound and then said i was just six weeks of course i looked at her very oddly and in shock only six weeks then why do i look this way. i was on weight watchers and lost 25 pounds now i look like ive gained it back and then some how can you tell if your having twins? shouldnt they have seen that in the ultra sound? i know you gain water but i was never this big with my first baby.and also if this helps my pelvics hurt some i got spoiled with my son i maybe just going nuts idk.

  • i got bigger faster with my second, if you're that concerned see if they'll do a transvaginal ultrasound and detect the heart beat...or beats :) GL and congratulations :)

  • Ultrasound is the only way. My sister didn't have an early ultrasound, and didn't find out until she was about 22 weeks along that she was having twins!

  • Blood work and ultrasound. I had no other real symptoms.

  • yea a lot of people get bigger faster with their second because your body already knows whats coming! if you really think you might have twins get an ultrasound! GL & Congrats!!

  • Also remember that it's much later that twins would make a difference to your size - at 6 weeks a fetus is the size of a grain of rice so no matter how many babies you're expecting it won't make much difference until you are several months along

  • Sounds a lot like my last pregnancy. I could feel movement, even though they said I was only about 8 wks or so. At my first real appt with the OB at around 12 weeks, they did an US and there were 2.
