  • I think this incident speaks volumes on how the system fails in the domestic violence category. This has more to do with domestic violence than guns. He could have easily killed her with something else other than a gun...his fists come to mind.

  • NP, the only think I can guess is that because when someone passes a gun law they start to feel like they've 'done something'. And in many people's book, something is better than nothing. My issue is that we are looking to do 'something' that won't change 'anything' and when it happens again regardless of the choice of weapon used we will all still be sitting around wringing our hands trying to think of more 'something' to do to prevent these tragedies.

This is the reason I am against making additional laws in the heat of the moment before we fully understand WHERE things went wrong and what could have been done to change the outcome. The CT shooter didn't seem to give a shit about gun laws. At all.

  • Just think, if they hadn't let him out, it never would've happened, regardless of when he bought the gun. Spose it's easier to blame the gun than the psychotic wife beater for his own actions, though.

  • Why isn't anyone talking about how laws need to be changed to prevent things like THIS happening?

Or the guy who was just sentenced to death yesterday in CT for wrapping 3 people in duct tape and beating them to death with a baseball bat?  Murder is already illegal.  Still not sure why people seem to think changing gun laws (that already exist, even if they've never bothered to read them) will make people suddenly stop breaking the law that says murder is bad.

  • I can guarantee there was more then 4 gun deaths yesterday that isnt reported.

Just like there were more threats of school violence last week that were unreported.

  • Oh, and your comment is misleading, your link clearly states the police have no idea if he bought it before or after he had a criminal record.

  • Laws need to change.

You know for a fact that there was no law in place already? Not counting the ones he broke by killing 3 people, that is.

  • People should look at some FBI statistics before going nuts. If we are going to go nuts restricting guns we also need to do so with knives, hands and feet.

A felon from PA with warrants out for his arrest went on the run with stolen guns. He was arrested outside Chicago last night. People don't care that he's a convicted felon. They don't care that he was a wanted man. They don't care that he was carrying stolen weapons. All they care about is that one of them was an AR-15 OMG!!!! WE NEED GUN CONTROL!!!! I'm guessing if the story had been reported last week, they wouldn't even know what an AR-15 was, and instead of demanding gun control, they'd be demanding PA keep a closer eye on its wanted felons before they leave the state.

  • So if he bought this before his arrest maybe they should have checked if he owned a gun before releasing him.

Because he only could have killed her with a gun. And they ought to have known that when they let him go, he would go kill three people immediately. And because it doesn't violate any rights at all to hold a person in jail, who would otherwise be released, just because they own a gun.

It's sad that 3 people are dead. But he could have killed them with anything - a knife, his fists, a car crashed through the walls, a bomb, a baseball bat. A hammer.
