Does breast feeding really cause faster weight loss after pregnancy?

  • It did for me. Twice! Everyone is different, but when you breastfeed you are burning more calories. It also helps your uterus return to its normal size faster.

  • Well, it makes your insides go back into place much faster. As for weight loss, it helps some and not others.

  • I didn't breastfeed with daughter #1 and I still lost all my weight. I was 93 when I got pregnant, went to 115 right after delivery and then down to 110. Stayed that way until I got pregnant with #2. The most I ever weighed, even pregnant was 150! It took me a little longer with #2 and then only managed to get back to 118.

    Moral of the story... you can lose weight even if you don't BF... LOL!

  • Yes, if you don't overeat. Drink a lot of water, liquids, and you will make lots of milk and probably lose weight.
