My baby sister did something awesome today, & I'm so proud of her!

Background- My baby sis just turned 12. Her middle school & the primary school where my DD is in Pre-K are connected. You may already know, my DD has severe cerebral palsy.

Today was the last day before break, & DD's Pre-K class went Christmas caroling in the middle school. There is a new boy in baby sis's class, moved down from a big city about 3 weeks ago. Sis says he has attitude issues. Anyway, sis & her best friend hugged my DD & introduced her to the new kid ( everybody else in her class knows & likes DD ) New boy laughed, said "Your niece is a retard!" & went to poke DD. Baby sis shoved him back by his shoulders & told him " No, she isn't, she has cerebral palsy. That is a nasty word, & don't you ever use it in front of me, especially about my niece, ever again!"

Luckily, the teacher saw it all & didn't get sis in trouble, since she was keeping the boy from poking DD hard. I don't approve of shoving, but in this case, I'll make an exception. Does my DD have an awesome aunt or what?

  • Good for your sister. Not only did she stick up for her niece, she did it very decisively in front of her peers. Very cool.

  • Yea, sis is a spitfire- it wouldn't matter if Jesus, the pope, & Elvis were watching, she'd say what she thinks.
