3 y/o night coughing HELP ASAP

my 3 y/o dd is fine all day long and falls asleep great and then boom its 11 and she starts coughing. ALL night. Tonight is the worst, she just threw up all over her bed. It happens for a few nights and then goes away and then it comes back. What do you think it could be? Should I take her into the ER?

  • Call your doc. This isn't something to try to get diagnosed online. If you have to ask the question, "Should I go to the emergency room?" then you should be on the phone to your doc.

Cold and croup come to mind right off.

  • If it is simple, give her honey 4-5 times.

  • Did you try vicks on the bottom of her feet with socks before bed? This has helped my kids a few times. Other times it has done nothing, but worth a try.

  • sounds like allergies, or the onset of a cold. Keep her head elevated when she goes to sleep, run a humidifier in her room, try the vicks, she's probably too young for benedryl before bed but ask your doctor anyways...
