Can you read your local newspaper online?

Is it free? Do you have to pay? Our local paper is now charging a monthy fee of $14 to read the paper online.

  • I'm assume I can though I never have. I don't know if it costs. That would be extremely pointless if it did.

  • I don't have a problem paying for an actual newspaper, you get to keep it, you get coupons etc. To just read your local news & obituaries online I don't think they should charge. Large cities have free online news.

  • Only headlines. If you want to read the article, you have to subscribe.

    However, if you highlight the headline and then drop it in a Google search, you can click on the article and read it that way. It's a PITA, but it works.

  • It's a tiny small town paper, so it's free online and 50cents in print.

  • You can read our local paper online for free. They only charge for the print version, which is kind of ridiculous, because the delivery person never delivers the way he should, and you always end up paying the subscription price and then buying it 95% of the time anyway, so I think canceling it is in order.

  • I wonder where you all live that you have to pay for online news. I read the Miami Herald for free, and the Houston Chronicle for free.
