Does your baby always 'drop' many weeks before labor?

I'm 36 wks. today and a lady at work keeps asking if my baby has 'dropped yet.' When does this happen? I hear it can happen when you're actually in labor. Does it always happen beforehand? If so, will I know?

  • I didn't drop until I was in labor, and even then she really didn't want to drop so they had me standing up and pushing for a bit to see if that would help LMAO. It actually did because she did end up dropping.

  • I don't think it happens to everyone. My son dropped 3 weeks before he was born. I could barely walk.
