My newborn feels warm to me? adult content

Obviously babies are warm little creatures but she feels a tad too warm.

I used a temporal artery thermometer that read 98. Are those accurate or do I need to find a stick thermometer to go rectally? :(

She has goopy eyes and stool has been a bit green today. Not incredibly worried...

  • I'm sure she's fine. The eyes could just be due to allergies or some kind of irritant (like new detergent or fabric softener).

  • Yeah. I don't think she enjoys the cat dander much. I am behind in mopping as usual.

  • Hmmm, I would take a rectal temp. Also, is she acting and eating fine otherwise?

  • Depends on how warm the house is, and how many cloths you have on her? If the house is warm and you have her bundled up, that might be the reason. You should always dress your child like you dress.

  • I used the kiss test. You kiss their forehead and see if she really feels warm. If she does then take the other tem.
If she is getting liquid, breastmilk or formula, and taking it pretty close to normal, my guess would be that she is starting into a cold. Use the humidifyer in her room and keep an eye on her.

  • She is nursing like a maniac as usual. She is wearing footed panamas so the equivalent of me with pants and socks. I am always cold as junk.

  • I always kiss the forehead. If baby feels warm, then baby has a temp. If baby feels "neutral", then there's no temp.
