Have to celebrate the small victories

daughter had a play date
little girl (7) from across the street (she has some delays also, born from a drug addicted 'mother')
they played with no issues for over 2 hours
at the end of play date
they were playing balloon volleyball in the livingroom
{ yes i allow this^ = bad mom comments you can keep to yourself}
my daughter popped the other girl's balloon by accident (and no tears)
the other girl knocked over part of my daughter's block maze by accident (and no tears)

daughter is SO MUCH better than even a year ago with amount of time she can be social and not overload
* being social IS work (even when you do not have autism and are only five years old)

    I remember when we didn't have a meltdown when we didn't go the exact same way through Walmart. I almost jumped for joy!

  • I'm so proud of her paxy but most importantly, I'm proud of you!
    Your daughter is very fortunate to have such a wonderful, devoted mom! It's because of you, that she has grown so much.

    Merry Christmas to both of you!

  • That's so cool! I hope next year you remember to look back with pride again. We all should.

  • Congrats to her and you for the wonderful accomplishment of a playdate without tears, for either of them!
    I get strange looks every time I celebrate new phrases from my son. I think people think I am one of those "overzealous" mothers that rejoices about everything, but when you go from having EVERY pharse your child says being a movie quote to 50% free speech, it is a joyous celebration.
