Does this sound like a come on?

"Your words, whether written or spoken, continue to inspire and encourage me. I hope you have a nice Christmas?"

It really is just a compliment in a Christmas card but could it be taken in a different way?

  • I would have to strech a long way fo it to be anything but a compliment on a card.

  • It sounds like a nice compliment to me, nothing more, unless there's some history we don't know about.

  • Just a compliment that's all. No "come on" to me.

  • As long as this is basically it, sounds fine to me. I could see it seeming a little creepy if you've been emailing him constantly, showing up at all his book signings, etc., but based on what you describe, sounds fine.

  • It was meant to be a compliment though. Nothing more.

  • No. No history. We've met once, exchanged a couple emails but that's all. He's a great writer and I admire him and his work. He's not the first author I've complimented in this manner.

  • Sounds fine as long as you are not stalking him.

  • I don't get "come on" from that
