Question about plastic surgery

If you have skin removed from your tummy because it's just hanging loose after beeing pregnant (or losing a lot of weight), what happens if you become pregnant again? Will the skin renew and strech again? Will the scars rip or something? Will you have worse strechmarks than before?

  • after a plastic surgery on your tummy (removed the skin ect) you probably shouldnt get pregnant for a few years. Its like having a c-section.. just REALLY worse.

and yes the skin will renew.. like when u keep eating and eating and you get fat again, your skin will renew and you had the surgery done for nothing.

the scars can def. rip. the risk of this to happen is very high when you get pregnant too soon after the surgery.

stretchmarks have nothing to do with if you had a plastic surgery on your tummy or not, its genetic

  • Just like the first reply said, skin will renew itself: its a living organ that regenerates continuously. Having a tummy tuck will not prevent your skin from stretching as much as it did with previous pregnancies, and since stretch marks are more of an inherited genetic trait, if you are prone to get them, the tummy tuck wont prevent them from happening with additional pregnancies. Keep in mind that a tummy tuck is serious abdominal surgery, and it can create a great deal of scar tissue, which is made up of collagen fibers--which do not stretch. It is possible that you could have a lot of discomfort from scar build up with another pregnancy, but your doctor and the plastic surgeon could give you a much more accurate idea of what you can expect if you make that choice.
