Please share your family recipe for Bread pudding

I make it, but I know that there is a recipe out there better than the one that I have :)

  • Chocolate bread pudding- use a basic bread pudding recipe, sub chocolate milk for the regular milk and chocolate chips or chunks for dried fruit. I use allspice, cloves, and nutmeg in mine instead of cinnamon because ydd gets rashy with cinnamon. You can melt chocolate chips (or white chocolate yum!) to drizzle on top.

  • This one's good. I use chopped walnuts instead of raisins, or along with raisins. I've also topped the bread pudding with frozen blueberries.

    12 slices day-old bread
4 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1 cup raisins (or chopped nuts)
    8 eggs, beaten
    4 cups milk
    1-1/2 cup white sugar
    2 teaspoons cinnamon
    2 teaspoons vanilla extract

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Tear bread into small cubes and layer in greased 9 by 13 inch pan. Drizzle melted butter over bread. If desired, top with raisins or chopped nuts.

Combine eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Blend well and pour over bread. Push bread down with a fork till it is all coated with the egg mixture.

Bake 45 minutes. Serve with warm syrup.

  • Thanks CM friends! I knew that there were better ones than the one that I know - the chocolate one sounds unbelivebly sinful :)
