  • i was going to ask a similar question. you could buy some ovulation tests on ebay real cheap they tell you which days you are ovulating and it says that within 36 hrs is when your most fertile. i just won a bid for 20 ovulation test for i think $6. i doubt i'll use all of them and plan on reselling them back on ebay. good luck

  • The window of fertility is pretty tiny, comparatively. I highly recommend "Taking Charge Of Your Fertility" by Toni Wechsler. One copy is worth a hundred Ovulation Predictor Kits....because the book is more accurate than they are!

  • Ovulation is a momentary event when the follicle ruptures and releases the egg into the fallopian tube. It doesn't take days. LH is released during the time leading up to and after that event, which is picked up in the OPKs. It surges higher at ovulation time, and can take a few hours to show up in your urine after it happens.

  • As a PP said, ovulation happens in a moment, not over days. You are fertile, however, for the 2-3 days preceeding ovulation, as the sperm has to be there to fertilize the egg. That's why knowing when you're going to ovulate (using OPK's is a popular way to do this) is so helpful, so you can hit that fertile window.
