Abnormal cells in a pap?

I was also wondering if abnormal cells in a pap right after having a child could have shown up for any reason other than HPV? Like could child birth could have caused abnormal cells??????

  • HPV can lie dormant in the body for up to 10 years so you could have contracted it quite a while ago.
Don't worry! Everything will be fine.

  • Abnormal cells doesn't always indicate HPV. I don't think having a baby could cause abnormal cells, but some people just have atypical cells thats not related to HPV.

  • No. Mine showed up as abnormal cells on my pap after my baby as well. The doc's letter said DNA tests showed it to be HPV and I needed a colpscopy. I have never had any symptoms
