Is anyone familiar dialysis? my dad recently began dialysis a few months ago....

it has been alot on him emotionally especially with the drastic life changes such as retiring from work and learning to live possibly for the rest of your life on dialysis. he has the cather now because he's had 2 surgeries for the fistula. now the arm is swelling and some pain. he was taken to the ER they said no blood cots and the fistula is functioning properly. they said its fluid and may need to be drained. he's has an appointment with his vascular surgeon. were worried he may need another surgery. he said he doesnt know if his heart can stand another one in such a short amount of time.

  • I would search around for a support group for him. Maybe you could attend with him for the first few times. A dialysis support group. If you are not able to find on call the center he goes to and ask about one. They should have some ideas for helping your dad thru this process....hugs to you and him.
