What are other ways to insulate the home?

I've thought of these options but wondering if there are any others I'm missing:

-line windows and ceilings with space blankets to reflect heat
-low-e vinyl insulation or insulated privacy film on windows
-thermal window shades and curtains (Krumpar solar shades)
-shrink wrap insulation on windows
-repainting with insulating paint (maybe even noise-reducing one due to noisy neighbors)
-draft logs

Any other creative solutions? Thanks!

  • Sounds like a good list to me. (don't forget to leave something open for some fresh air drafts, I am terrified of carbon monoxide poisoning)

  • Noise reducing paint? For real?

  • Great ideas! Keep'em coming!

Yes, the nosie reducing paint is real but it obviously doesn't completely block out noise. There is also noise reducing wallpaper. My friends had their music room soundproofed and it reduces noise by up to 50% if you use different layers of soundproofing materials. Just google it.
