Newborn hasn't pooped since yesterday morning. Should I be worried? adult content

My DS is a month old. He is bf and since we brought him home with every diaper we changed there was poop. So I'm a lil worried since it cut off so suddenly. It has been over 24 hours. Should I be worried or are things ok?

  • No worries about quantity, it's about the quality. When he poops if it was hard little pellets then yes you need to take him in, but if it was still liquidy then it's ok. My 7mo had the same problem and thats what the pediatrician told me.

  • As long as he's not screaming in pain or very noticibly uncomfortable he should be fine. Something in your diet could have firmed his poop up a little. Keep bf, it's the best "laxative" - ebf babies so rarely get constipated!

  • I noticed the same thing with my baby. It's normal. Poop will come!

  • Breastfed babies can go a really long time without pooping. When mine were a month or two old, they stopped pooping every day and instead were pooping about once a week. As long as your baby is comfortable and the poop is soft when he finally does go, it's fine. Less poopy diapers were a great perk of breastfeeding.
