Is your child a leftie?

I'm trying to do a research paper on left-handedness for my developmental psych class. I haven't quite got the thesis down yet, so I'm not sure which aspect I will write about. I'm coming up short as far as psychology studies go. I was just curious how many of your children were left handed? Are you or your SO a leftie? Does your child suffer from an immune disease or learning disablity? (I ask about the last two b/c a study I read showed that there were a higher percentage of left handed participants that had a learning disability or immune disease as opposed to right handed participants)

  • One of my twins (identical) used her left hand when she was a baby, then used both, then by 2 1/2 or 3 used her right hand exclusively.  I never knew whether she eventually used her right hand because it was more comfortable, or because she was imitating others....especially her twin, which has always preferred the right hand. No learning disabilities and no diseases.

  • My 12 yr old son is ambidextrous. He can do everything with both hands, even write. Although he uses his left most of the time for writing. I have 2 left handed sisters, my sons great grandfather was abidextrous, and none of them had any sort of LD, or immune diseases....
