  • My husband is a professional carpet cleaner - over 15 years. Here's how we get our red/orange stains out:

Things you need: Ammonia, spray bottle, white cotton cloth, iron (one that you will use solely for taking up stains. It can be a cheapy $7 one)

    - Fill the bottle with 3/4 hot water and 1/4 ammonia. Shake.

    - Soak the white cloth and squeeze out excess. - Spray the stain with ammonia/water and cover with the damp cloth.

    - Turn the iron all the way to high heat and press down on the damp cloth. The dye will transfer from the carpet to the cloth. You may have to repeat, but it will work every time.

  • Forgot to add that it may smell funny, but that's ok. Don't worry, you won't burn the carpet if you keep the iron on the damp cloth.

Also, keep the iron pressed down for a few seconds at a time. If you have to repeat, be sure to re-dampen the cloth.
