Party Go vs Party No

OK, your child is headed to a birthday party for a peer--the following things are provided by the family hosting the party helium balloons, temporary tattoo station, soda, cake, ice cream, pizza, juice, candy, nail painting,

These are things I either have been told no on or are typical things I have seen at recent birthday parties, many of which I plan to have at my own child's party (excluding soda and candy)
What would you keep your child away from on this list?

  • I would let my kid do all of it. How can you make them sit out and watch everyone else get a tattoo? It's fun, it's a party. There is nothing bad on that list. The only thing I don't like is soda, but it's fine once in a while.

  • none of them would keep me from sending my child. Its just a party its not like they get that stuff everyday

  • I have been to many kid parties (4,5 & 6 year olds) & none of the kids wanted/or drank the soda, only juice & water but mostly water. Soda for the adults. Otherwise I wouldn't say no to anything. I have a boy so I doubt he'd like the nail painting part though.

  • I wouldn't say no to any of them. Its a party.. kids get special treats at a party.

  • I don't see anything wrong with anything on the list...?

  • It's a party: AKA a special event. I wouldn't really want my children drinking soda but, I don't mind then having a treat or two. And, I know they'd enjoy the nails & maybe the temp tattoos.

  • I would let my daughter do any of those. She'd love the tattoos best. My only caution to you would be that helium balloons can be a real pain in the butt with a lot of kids at a party. Maybe do those on the way out.

  • I wouldn't say no to any of it. I'd even let DS get his nails pained if he really wanted to. Special occasion stuff, not a big deal IMO.

  • Candy and soda every day? NO. Candy and soda at a party? SURE.
    Everything in moderation.
