Making cookies. Can I do this?

Hey hey ladies. I need some help.

Making sugar doodle cookies and it calls for 1 stick of butter. Uummmm I have no butter and running to the store is not an option right now.

Can I use Crisco shortening instead? If so, do I need to change the amount? Melt it?

Thanks in advance ladies

  • You can, don't melt it. Use it the same way & same amount the recipe says to use butter. The finished cookies won't have the same flavor, and it could also slightly affect the outcome (usually won't, but some recipes it does, not enough to make adjustments though).

  • Yes, you can. However, one stick of Crisco is equal to two sticks of butter. So, use half, I would guess....
